SSBC also brought Jonas' Procharged Corvette and Product Development Manager Dan DeKruger's LT4 Formula. In addition to the LT4 conversion, the Formula also now sports a six-speed and a complete aftermarket suspension. Dan switched from SSBC's more powerful Force 10 four-piston front brakes to the Tri-Power just before driving to Atlanta for comparison. Both the Formula and the Vette sport a bitchin' set of rims from Forgeline and HP Design. | The pits were filled with high-powered GM tire-roasters including this red Vortech blown LT1 Camaro | and Ron Pasto's '05 CTS-V with Hotchkis sway bars, BMR anti-wheelhop kit and high-dollar Kinesis custom wheels. |
Quite a few Vettes showed up for the Air Ride Autocross Competition, helping to contribute over 2,000 laps total, but it just wasn't their day. | A Brunton Super Stalker kit car, original '67 Shelby AC Cobra and a WRX STi claimed the three podium spots. | It's just as well though, as Vettes dominated the SSBC 0-60-0 Challenge. Clayton Parker's C6, Ryan Wilson's '04 Z06, and Michael Hulett's '06 took First through Third in braking. |
A mobile dyno was also stationed in the pits for the Year One Experience, which Brian Mull took full advantage. His converted '84 GN relies on a PTE 44 turbo and front mount intercooler. With 50-pound injectors keeping pace with the 27 psi of boost cranked into the stock motor, Brian would be tweaking the LT1 MAF Translator to show what kind of power 7.30s (in the 1/8 mile) translate into on the dyno. Just after this picture a chance encounter with Chip Foose landed a fresh signature on the GN's dashboard. | Just down the highway, the drag racing portion of the event kicked off at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce. The turnout of late model GM EFIs paled in comparison to last year's event because of the absence of the LS1Tech sponsored race, but it didn't seem to hurt overall attendence. The ORSCA 1/8-mile racing, in particular, created quite a bit of excitement as the 4- to 7-second dragsters violently blasted into the night. Surprisingly, a few of them even used aftermarket EFI fuel systems, not to mention Third or Fourth Gen body styles. | Bobby Hule of Monroe, La., said goodbye after the first round of the 13.0 Index class as his '87 turbo Regal ran 12.61 at 110 mph in the Georgia heat-much too quick for this class. |
Joe Anderson of Hikson, Tenn., ducked out early in the 12.0 Index class after running 12.40 at 101 in the first round of eliminations in his '97 Camaro. | Dustin Brown faced stiff competition in the 12.0 Index class, and ducked out early despite running 12.14 at 121mph. The Rock Hill, S.C. native felt the salt in his wounds as his '84 Camaro fell to Todd Baker's Mustang, who went on to take Second overall. | Howard Wolf piloted his '99 Vette to 11.11 at 106 in the prelims, but dropped out in one of the later rounds of the 11.0 Index class. The black C5 is powered by an MTI Racing 427ci LS1. |
 | Kevin Polchan of Knoxville, Tenn., won the 10.0 Index class, being careful not break out with his scary fast turbocharged '98 Trans Am. | |
