Syclone Typhoon Nationals - Storm's A Brewin'

Once again, owners of the extremely rare and fast Syclone and Typhoon trucks gathered for the 9th Annual SyTy Nationals in Kansas City, Missouri on September 8-10, 2006. The Double Tree in nearby Overland Park, Kansas served once more as the host hotel, since two trees add up to great accommodations, as any Mitch Hedberg fan knows. Many of the attendees checked in Thursday and received their complementary cookies, then proceeded to the early registration meet-and-greet. Meanwhile, the majority of the stragglers showed up throughout Friday. The day's agenda included a barbeque in the parking lot to raise money for the event, and later that evening most of the crew headed to Kansas City International Raceway for grudge racing. While only a few participated, due to the full day of racing planned for the following day, it gave everyone their first look at Robert Pothorcki's 8-second AWD Syclone in action. The following morning the trucks were cleaned off and prepped for the Show and Shine. Voting took place in the morning, and the KCIR caravan left the Double Tree around 1 p.m. later that afternoon. Following the traditional post-race dinner at Gates BBQ, the turbo truck parade returned to the parking lot for some late-night debauchery, as per usual. The next day the group had a 9 a.m. brunch and award ceremony at Applebee's, before saying goodbye one more time.
