GS Nationals - Into The Black - Event
Jason Cheney of Brandon, MI, drove his gold '87 T-Type all the way from Mississippi with trailer in tow. Ported heads and a larger turbo helped supply all the torque he needed along the way. | Trampess Butcher hoped to improve on last year's performance when he broke the crank after running 7.90. His GN sports two 64mm turbos, a Stage II block, and a full tube chassis. Look out! | | TSE Winner Bob "Hard Luck" Hinson not only broke his tranny, but a turbo as well prior to arriving in Bowling Green, KY. Fortunately, Red Armstrong overnighted him a turbo, and Bob was back in action-twice putting his GN on the bumper while managing to run a 9.6 e.t. before taking First Place in TSE with Scott Bolek in his white T in tow. | | | Carnage is inevitable with cars this fast. | TSL Winner Gary Harmon of Spring Hill, FL, took it to Boby Irle from Stone Mountain, GA, running 9.23 at 148 mph to Irle's 9.97 at 139. | TSM Winner Dick Kereny, still riding high from his 8-second run at the end of last race season, took the podium for TSM after qualifying the fastest with a 9.52 at 144 mph to Phillip McGloin's 9.53 at 142 in his red TR. In the finals, Dick took the win when Phillip's cam sensor broke at half track after taking an early lead. Jason Cramer was a little off pace this year, running 9.75 at 139 in qualifying, but stepped it up against Dick who won by only .156. Dick will definitely be the man to beat in TSM heading into 2008, as he even went on to win the TSM overall points championship after compiling numerous other wins throughout the race season. |
