Welcome to the GMPP LSX Shootout IV
For those who have attended in years past and newbie's alike, you are in for a special treat in 2010. As you will see in the next section, there are plenty of changes this year and GM High-Tech Performance is proud to be the presenting magazine for the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout. Yet again, the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) has put together the greatest LS race ever. You can count on the biggest players showing up to push the limits of the Gen III/IV platform, who have raised the bar time and again. To show its gratitude, the NMCA has paid close attention to its attendees and made many improvements. Some of which are designed to increase the overall enjoyment of the participants, and some will hopefully add even more excitement to the event. Quite frankly, if the rules changes and new classes don't get your blood flowing, then you better check your pulse.
Every year this event has gotten bigger, and the cars have gotten more insane. Despite the economy, 2009 was no exception and actually caught many off guard. With the enormous popularity and unbelievable sales of the 2010 Camaro, expectations are even higher this October 7-10. In the GMHTP 2010 Camaro Shootout last year, there were two boosted cars with stock bottom-ends tiptoeing around the 11.0 mark and another two with stroker motors and forced induction that didn't quite make it into the competition. Given that one of those cars has since run 9s and another is threatening to do the same soon enough, we can't wait to see who shows up this year. Of course, they will first have to prove their merit at the Camaro Performers 2010 Camaro Challenge. Also of note, the new Real Street heads-up class was carefully designed to appeal to more of the average racer, especially the nitrous crowd, with a smaller budget than is required to compete in Drag Radial or All Motor. We expect some incredible action and popularity from this limited 275 radial and true 10.5 slick tire class, and single digit times.
Please enjoy this year's LSX Shootout in its new venue-Gateway International Raceway just outside of St. Louis, Missouri, as well as GMHTP's coverage in an upcoming issue. For those of you new to the magazine, welcome to the world of cutting edge, late-model GM EFI. From hot features to buyer's guides, chassis and engine dyno testing, drag and handling tests, and drag shootouts-GMHTP has the goods. We are your number one source for LS coverage as well as third-, fourth-, and fifth-gen F-bodies or any of the General's late-model EFI cars and trucks. GMHTP provides a little something for everyone from the hard-core drag racer to the weekend warrior, daily cruiser, road racing addict, internet hero, or car show nut. Welcome!
