Owen Priest's 9.89 at 146... Owen Priest's 9.89 at 146 mph was quick enough, but a slow reaction time cost him and Lingenfelter's LS9 car got the win. Owen, owner of Advanced Racing Dynamics in Houston, had been making some great headway in getting his nitrous-injected 468-cid LSX dialed-in. He certainly had the horsepower, frequently blowing through the traps faster than every other fifth-gen except LMR. Don Rainey and Ted Jannetty... Don Rainey and Ted Jannetty battled rear-end problems all weekend and that kept them out of the big show. Luckily, the Jannetty Racing crew is always working on R&D, so they should have a permanent solution to this problem soon. What more can you say about... What more can you say about LPE's LS9 car; face-plated 6060 trans, stock cubic-inch, modified stock blower, nitrous, etc. It is one bad machine. It leaves harder than any other IRS fifth-gen out there, and actually picks the wheels up. Though several tenths off from its best, Jon Ebert pulled the gears quick enough to run 9.46 at 151 mph to get the win. Paul Falcon is no stranger... Paul Falcon is no stranger to bumper dragging launches with his nitrous-fed Trans Am. Unfortunately, the landing from this one was a race ender for Paul, who qualified with a 9.37 at 145-mph. Paul told us he will be back, he races this car often and, with just 616-miles on the odometer, he plans to keep it in great shape for years to come. Stephen Wells is no stranger... Stephen Wells is no stranger to heads up racing and made the trip from New Jersey to race his gorgeous 427 cubic-inch Z06, which ran as fast as 9.95 at 136-mph. During the first round of eliminations, Stephen found himself a little off pace, running a slower 10.18, which would end his weekend a little early. How about a low 9-second,... How about a low 9-second, rear mount turbo equipped 365-inch 2000 Trans Am? Built by Jeff Lowry from a rough shell, this 76mm equipped rocket runs extremely well and would take Jeff all the way to the semi-finals running as fast as 9.09 at 153-mph. 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am - Street Heat
Almost no other GM model pulls off the aggressive look quite like the fourth-gen Trans Am, and when you modify one like Nathan Turjillo from Las Vegas has, well; you end up with a real showstopper....
