If you've been following along with our 1987 Grand National buildup, you know that we finished the final installation and assembly tasks up at Cotton's Performance Center in Agawam, Mass. ("10-Second TR," March 2006).
A few weeks later, with winter closing in, we were able to get the GN down to Raceway Park for a quick run. With the FAST XFI system up and running, Jack Cotton loaded a conservative tune to break her in on: 19 pounds of boost.
After a burnout, Brian Cotton rolled to the line to stage up. He left fairly soft, but the slicks spun anyway, and a 1.76 60-foot time was recorded. The GN moved out well for its low boost level, and he broke the traps with an 11.30 at 121.07.
As this was in mid-November, it was the only run we were able to make before E-Town closed for the season. There is a ton left in this combo, and Jack and Frankie are itching to crank the boost up and show what this Buick is truly capable of. We'll be along for the ride, so look for the final installment of "10-Second TR" soon!
