The Next Level
After a few HPDEs, two different kinds of people typically emerge. One is the driver who has decided that he or she will be perfectly content to continue driving a streetable car on the race course, with little or no worry of damage or serious personal injury. The other has caught a different sort of bug, something that brings the survival instinct back into play. This person now wants to test their skills against other drivers, either in one of the TT competitions or an actual racing situation. In both cases, the skills learned through the HPDE process are invaluable, including the proper racing line, spatial awareness, and safety ingrained in students throughout each group of HPDE. At all levels of motorsport, these are traits that will pay off in most on-track situations, and can even carry over to daily driving. With many organizations offering HPDE events-as well as TT and road-racing competitions-there's really never been a better time to get out on the track.
