GMPP will be doubling the purse and giving a custom winner's jacket to all LS-powered cars that win a category in NMCA's popular True Street class at the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout held October 11-14, 2007, at Memphis Motorsports Park. Furthermore, if the overall fastest True Street competitor is in an LS-powered vehicle, GM Performance Parts will also give away an LSX Bow-Tie block valued at more than $3,000!
Knowing that there are thousands of potential "true" street competitors with LS-powered combinations that want to participate in the LSX Shootout, GMPP has decided to provide some serious cash and prizes. True Street ETs can range from 9 to 15 seconds, and everywhere in between.
NMCA's True Street class is designed for real street vehicles that are licensed, insured, and driveable on the street. True Street, which will be contested on Saturday, October 13, requires all competitors to make a 30-mile police-escorted cruise. After the cruise, there will be a cool-down period before the cars hit the track. Each competitor will then make three back-to-back passes down the strip. Category awards will be presented to the closest averages to (but not quicker than) 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, 13.0, 14.0, and 15.0 seconds. The King of Tennessee True Street award will be presented to the overall fastest competitor. All True Street competitors will also receive a free entry into the bracket racing competition on Sunday, October 14.

GMHTP Reader Fun Day At Englishtown NJAs if the LSX Shootout isn't enough to satiate your lust for all things EFI, GM High-Tech Performance will hold a reader fun day on Saturday, October 20, at Raceway Park. Held in conjunction with the EFI Race Series, this event will kick off at noon with some good old-fashioned drag racing. Even if you don't feel like racing, shine your ride up and come on down, as the GMHTP editors will be prowling for high-powered, feature-worthy cars. We'll be bringing the magazine project cars down for you to check out, and we're in the process of nailing down some cool events for you, our faithful readers. No Really--Nominate A Technician!In our July 2007 issue, a call was put out for you to recommend the best techs who ever laid an experienced hand on your rides. A couple months on, we are very surprised to see that hardly anyone has e-mailed us with technician nominations--and most of the ones we got specialized in 20-year-old Turbo Buicks!
