Sweet 16
While most kids get a handful of quarters from their grandparents on their 16th birthday, Kai-lin Chu of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was pulling the ribbon off a 1993 Camaro Z28. Extensive bodywork includes shaved door and trunk locks, an SS hood, and a custom paint job that slightly alters the factory Patriot Red. Polished Fikse 17x9 front and 17x11 wheels scream class and sophistication on the old school LT1, which capitalizes on its brutal torque with a Borla exhaust system, March underdrive pulleys, Callaway cold air intake, 52mm throttle body, and 160 thermostat. A full tubular rear suspension and a urethane-laden front suspension help give the Z its prowess on the autocross course, as does custom coilovers. Eibach springs are used for increased spring rates and a whopping 2-inch drop. A third interior overhaul and more engine mods, Kai-lin says, are on the way.

At A Medium Pace
Robert Sessock picked up this 1999 Z28 from his Middleton, New York-based home last year, with only 5,700 original miles on it. Chrome 17x9.5 front and 17x11 ZR1 wheels have been added to really pop against the Bright Blue Metallic paint. Hooker Super Comp long-tube headers, an off-road Y-pipe, and a Corsa cat-back have really woken up the stock LS1. A K&N air filter, Whisper air lid, and an NOS plate system with a POD controller and MSD window switch provide both natural and unnatural aspiration. The only other mod to date is a Pro 5.0 short-throw shifter, as Robert is in no particular hurry to start tearing apart this 8,400-mile Z.
