The use of these lightweight body panels draped over the aluminum frame would otherwise provide significant weight reduction. However, Pratt & Miller wanted to ensure the interior was befitting a $187,500 sports car (excluding initial cost of Z06 and available premium package). Around 80 pounds worth of Dynamat was added to eliminate road noise and bring engine and exhaust noise within acceptable levels, which I assure you takes nothing away from the driving experience. Specially designed, highly bolstered two-tone leather seats with substantial lateral support were made to keep the driver and passenger stable despite the ridiculous g-forces the C6RS is capable of. Unlike your typical aftermarket race seats, you won't find any difficulty getting into the seat or excessive wear spots from doing so. It's obvious these seats were carefully crafted and custom-made for this car. The rest of the interior is almost completely wrapped in high-quality leather, with French seams on the door and kick panels. The C6RS logo is well placed on the gauge cluster, doorsill plates, dash, seats, and tight-knit floor mats.
To a true gearhead, the real beauty is under the hood, and with the C6RS thou shall not be disappointed. The look alone of the Katech Performance-painted valve covers and LS7 intake manifold (matched to the interior accent color) with relocated coil packs and carbon-fiber intake is impressive enough. However, the LS-based motor's ability to crack 600 in horsepower and torque, while still being emissions legal, is something to behold. As not only the builder of LS7.Rs and other various LS-based racing engines, but also a contracted tester for GM, it should come as no surprise that Katech had the knowledge and the means to pull off such an endeavor. How they did it is another story. With the constraints of the factory exhaust manifolds and cats, it was going to take a whole lot of cubes to make another 95 hp over the LS7 without resorting to boost. Since Pratt & Miller specified that it had to be a lightweight aluminum block, Katech turned to Dart who, at that time, had the only aluminum LS block capable of supporting the amount of cubic inches they'd need.
As one of the only shops experimenting with the new billet block, it took quite a bit of R&D just to put the motor together and make it suitable for thousands of miles worth of street driving. With clearance necessary for the lengthy 4.500-inch stroke, enlarged coolant passages, welded passage covers, and a special nickel silicon carbide coating to the linerless cylinders, the block was eventually ready for its heavy-duty rotating assembly. A forged steel crank and rods with 4.205-inch bore forged aluminum pistons made custom by Katech give thrust to the 11.0:1 compression 500ci motor. The high-flowing, factory-cast LS7 heads were the natural choice to top off the motor, since they already came with the car and are easily the best mass-produced option out there for a big-bore LS. PSI valvesprings and Katech titanium retainers were added for greater durability and cooperation with a custom-ground hydraulic roller cam. Corsa chipped in to develop a custom cat-back for the unique motor and altered chassis to provide OEM-quality decibel levels at all rpm, not to mention excellent performance. A Dewitt aluminum radiator, with dual fans, upgrades the factory piece for the increased capacity needed for the 8.2L motor.

Powerful Brembo monoblock six- and four-piston calipers provide substantial clamping force to fade-resistant, two-piece 14- and 13.5-inch discs. | Pratt & Miller was all too... Pratt & Miller was all too happy to show off its latest creation at the Katech Track Attack, and even give potential buyers a ride with Ron Fellows around Autobahn Country Club's 2.1-mile South Circuit in Joliet, IL. Though Jay Leno's black model has long since been delivered, P&M managed to have three on hand, including a convertible model. Leno was involved with GM and Pratt & Miller from the get-go on this project. | The C6RS is basically a converted... The C6RS is basically a converted Z06 (aside from the convertible model) with an aluminum frame and completely carbon-fiber body. The larger 8.2L engine block and Dynamat sound deadening cancels out the weight reduction, however, keeping weight at around 3,200 pounds. |
