Bad SS
Trevor Andrusko of Alpharetta, GA, proves that you don't need to go over the top to get noticed. Under the hood, Trevor has replaced his stock LS1 with a 6.0L LQ4 bottom end and stock 317 cylinder heads. A Futral Motorsports F13 camshaft provides the bump and breathes from a ported throttle body and LS6 intake. Pacesetter long-tubes feeding a 4-inch Y-pipe either route the spent exhaust gases into a factory exhaust or the atmosphere, depending on his mood and the position of his QTP electric cutout. A built TH350 and 3,200-rpm stall transfer power to the factory rear, which has been reinforced with welded axletubes and a TA girdle. Trevor has made 405 horsepower at the tires and ran as fast as 11.81 at 115 mph in the quarter. He says that while that was fun, he is now focusing on autocross and road racing, and will be pulling the auto to install a T56 in the near future.
Texas Monster
They say everything is bigger in Texas and by looking at Cody Hassell's '02 Camaro, we would have to agree. A ProCharged 370-inch Weber Racing motor with Stage 2 TEA LS6 heads, an EPP blower cam, and an LS6 intake manifold powers his gorgeous red Z28 to the tune of 683 rear-wheel horsepower. A Nasty Performance Stage 3 fuel system keeps the engine happy while an Exotic Performance Plus front-mount intercooler keep the charge temps in line. To get all this power to the ground Cody is using a TDP-built T56 with a Spec Stage 4+ clutch. A Moser 12-bolt with 3.73 gears transfers all of this horsepower to some huge 18x10.5-inch C6 ZO6 wheels wrapped in BFG KDW tires. The chassis rides on a mix of suspension components with BMR handling the tubular front crossmember, subframe connectors, and strut tower bar. UMI is in charge of the lower control arms, torque arm, and Panhard bar. Bilstein shocks and DMS lowering springs keep the ride height in check while outside, an SLP Ultra-Z hood and SLP center-mount exhaust give people something to look at.
