Just wanted to say great magazine. I do have a correction that needs to be made in the September issue. In The Buzz section, the SS model will debut as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Racecar in the 2013 Daytona 500, not in the Indy 500. Otherwise, keep up the great work.
I have an ’08 GMC Sierra Denali with a 6.2L. My current mods are a TVS 1900 Magnacharger kit, cat-back exhaust, and long-tube headers. After reading an article on your website, I am looking to buy the VVT cam from Comp Cams (PN 156-403-13). Where would I be able to get some good ported and polished heads to go with this cam?
There are dozens of places with CNC programs for the L92 heads from Late Model Engines to Golen Engine Service, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, Lingenfelter, Total Engine Airflow, West Coast Cylinder Heads, Advanced Induction, etc. Both Mast Motorsports and Procomp Electronics have aftermarket castings as well.
You may need to explain why GMHTP goes to all the trouble of displaying objects on the front cover of your fine mag, only to have the guys in the distribution department place mailing labels over such a “nice” part of the cover as the Photo Finish preview.
Not only that, but they use an adhesive that has stronger bond than 300 mph tape. Please have them try something that releases without pulling the bikini from the models!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I read GMHTP religiously in the hopes that I could learn more about GM’s second most infamous motor, the 3.8L V-6. Laugh all you want V-8 boys, for less then $2k, and lots of scraped knuckles, you can have 405 crank HP (335FWHP). I have pulled an 11.92 at 129 mph in the quarter. Have you ever written articles on the L67 supercharged motor or cars like my Grand Prix GTP? And yes, I’ve beaten the new Camaro V-8s, it helps when my GP only weighs 3,000 pounds. So technically, FWD in Ferrari territory with less than 10lbs:1hp. Laugh all you want, but what else is out there besides zzperformance.com? What have you guys done? What other easy quick tricks can I do besides an intercooler and underdrive pulley on the supercharger that could be done on a Saturday afternoon?
Unfortunately, in my tenure we have never provided coverage of the L67, but it is not for lack of trying. For one reason or another things just have not worked out. That being said, it is something worth looking at and we will do our best to make it happen. Besides ZZ Performance, there is also Intense-Racing.com—they have ported lower intakes, blower housings, air intakes, pulleys, machined snouts, SLP exhaust, etc. Pacesetter also makes headers that I spotted on the WBodyStore.com.
