More Than Meets The EyeGM has whipped its loyal F-body fans into a frenzy--and created some new ones--by building a third prototype Camaro for the Paramount/Dreamworks film Transformers, which hit movie theaters in July. The reincarnation of the 1980s cartoon TV series and Marvel comic features the Camaro as one of the central characters, Bumblebee. As anyone familiar with either the comic or show can guess, the Camaro is actually an alien robot in disguise that crash-landed on Earth after its planet was destroyed. The plot follows Bumblebee, as well as Autobot Jazz (Pontiac Solstice), Autobot Ratchet (Hummer H2), and Ironhide (GMC pickup), as the classic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons rages on into 2007. The positive feedback regarding the new Camaro has been overwhelming so far; time will tell if GM will be able to ride this wave until the Camaro coupe becomes available in late 2008/early 2009.
