With Thanksgiving upon us, here's a reminder to be thankful for all of the EFI GM blessings you have.
2010 Camaro Production:
It won't be long before you take delivery of the latest, greatest...and dare I say...best Camaro of all time. Don't take too long to get 'em modified, and be sure to send in photos.
Camaro Interest Is At An All-Time High:
Outside of my GMHTP world, it's obvious that the mainstream media is riding the wave of new Camaro interest-every kind of media, from Web to newspapers, is running a 2010 Camaro piece. And the best part? Nearly all of these authors have favorable things to say about our beloved ponycar.
Affordable LS1s:
Remember a few years back, when LS1-powered F-bodies with reasonable mileage were still in the $15,000 and up range? Not anymore-this world-class engine can be had in '99-02 Camaros and Firebirds for less than ten grand, still in decent shape. They are the performance deals of the new century!
Holden:
What a brand. First, it develops the GTO and us Yankees are blown away by the quality, comfort, and power of the neo-Goat. For an encore, it creates the G8-quite possibly, the most impressive balance of performance and four-door practicality ever in an American brand. GMHTP editors who sampled the G8 GT against the new V-8 Challengers found that there was no comparison when handling and overall performance feel is concerned. Next up on Holden's blow-off-your-socks to-do list: Camaro.
Big Base Camaro Horsepower:
Enthusiasts who pick up the LS or LT versions of the new Camaro will get a V-6 engine. But not just any V-6: the 3.6-liter LLT. With direct injection, variable-valve timing, and dual overhead cams, this little dynamo will make 300-plus horses on 87-octane fuel! If you stop to think about the first LS1 F-bodies, they were making similar power with the 5.7-liter, LS1 V-8. And if you compare this base V-6 with the base mills in the Mustang (210-horsepower V-6) and Challenger (250-horsepower V-6), you'll realize what a performance advantage it is to have a GM powertrain.
LSX Shootout:
There were years where no matter how hard a group tried to get an LS event off the ground, it either didn't happen, or wasn't able to sustain itself. Now that the second LSX Shootout is under our belts, it's clear that this is a vibrant market, and the combination of sponsor support, vendor participation, and race and show enthusiasts makes for an intense and exciting event for LS fans.
Rear-Drive Performance GM Choices:
A few years ago, we had hardly any. How times have changed for the better.
Our Huge EFI GM Aftermarket:
Now in late November, the world's performance manufacturers just unveiled literally thousands of their newest wares at SEMA, with PRI right around the corner. They make 'em, we see 'em, you read about 'em, and you install 'em on your rides soon after.
Cooler Weather:
You're doing one of two things right now. One is racing in warmer climates and reaping the benefits of cooler air and lower times. The other is taking a break in colder climates and letting your bank account recover, giving your significant other the attention they didn't get during racing season, and letting your bloody knuckles heal. Both are good.
You Are Living In The Performance Golden Age:
With 638-horsepower ZR1s prowling the streets and base Corvettes running low 12s while getting stupid fuel mileage, I don't know how much further we can take factory GM performance. Enjoy it!
