This gathering brings together industry leaders, engineers, hardcore enthusiasts, and media members looking to learn and share the latest engine technology.

This year's theme is Advanced LSX Performance, and we're pleased to announce that GM High-Tech Performance, along with Engine Masters and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, will be sponsoring this event!

Among the topics to be discussed by featured experts at the AETC seminars are "High Performance LSX Engine Building," "Insider New Engine Technology," and "Optimizing Engine Airflow," along with an in-depth review of forced induction as it relates to the LSX engine, building big-inch LS engines, new product reviews, specialized engine control systems, LeMans, NASCAR, and NHRA racing applications, and the future of the LSX platform. While the topic of focus is "LS Engines," the presented information represents successful engine building techniques, which apply to all engines.

Included with admission is an AETC welcome reception, AETC seminars and booklets, food, the LSX Expert Panel Roundtable discussions, valuable AETC- exclusive manufacturer coupons, extensive LS product giveaways and door prizes, new LS product manufacturer showcase, Q&A sessions and the insider networking cocktail party.

If that isn't enough incentive for you to go, consider that the $500 admission ($550 after August 1) also gets you into the PRI show-even if you aren't an "industry insider"! The goody bag will be a fullsized duffel bag to cram all of the swag into. Those attendee coupons will save thousands of dollars on the LS parts you want. All of the sponsors have donated product for giveaways-roughly $30,000 worth of LS parts and services will go to lucky AETC attendees this year! And with space limited to 350 people, there's a pretty good chance at walking away with some goodies.

Call 866/893-2382 or log on to the AETC Web site, www.aetconline.com, for current speaker, sponsor and giveaway updates.

Photo Gallery: Advance LSX Performance - AETC Performance Conference - Gm High Tech Performance Magazine

And they'll be revving to the 6,600-rpm redline with help from either the standard 6L80 six-speed auto, or an optional Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission!

A performance-tuned suspension was developed and validated on racetracks and highways around the world, including the Nurburgring. Brembo brakes (14-inch vented, four-piston front, 12.76-inch rear) are standard on the GXP, as are 19x8 polished aluminum wheels with 245/40/19 performance tires.

Along with some interior touches, the exterior styling was upgraded-including a new front fascia with lower splitter and a rear fascia diffuser.

Balancing fun and safety looks easy with the GXP: ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control come standard, as do seat-mounted thorax airbags, roof rail side-impact airbags for both seating rows, and dual-stage frontal airbags for front passengers, with an automatic passenger sensing system. Pricing had not been set as of our press date, but expect to pay at least a few thousand more than the$29,995 G8 GT's base price.

SPORT TRUCK COMING TO AMERICA

Mere days after our May '08 issue, whichincluded rumors of a U.S.-bound HoldenUte, hit the stands, Bob Lutz announcedat the New York Auto Show that thetemporarily named G8 Sport Truck wouldbe hitting U.S. shores as a 2010 model! The 6.0L V-8 is a go, producing 361 horses and 385 lb-ft of torque, redlining at 6,000 rpm,and retaining Active Fuel Management. Asix-speed 6L80 auto trans will help it getto 60 mph in around 5.4 seconds.

The UteCaminTruck is based on theG8's rear-drive architecture, but this ride has a 118.5-inch wheelbase (4 inches longer), with an overall length of 6 inches longer-and to let the cat out of the bag: it has a bed! Body reinforcements were made to handle the roughly 3,500-pound tow/1,100-pound haul numbers that we reported last time, and the IRS was beefed accordingly to handle the haul, but Pontiac says it won't affect handling.

Stopping this beast are ABS-assisted,12.64-inch dual piston front/12.76-inch rear brakes-and 18x8 rims are standard, with 19x8s optional. GM hopes to get this bad boy into dealerships by late 2009; prices are yet to be released.

Photo Gallery: 2009 Pontiac G8 & 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck - GM High Tech Performance Magazine

Over the years, many tracks have successfully created and promoted such programs. Flowmaster Mufflers had decided to engage with that cause by creating their first ever High School Safe Streets Track Program, which launched in 2008.

The High School Track Program will involve 25 tracks for 2008 reaching across the country and providing a special cash reward to racers who take the top point awards. Among the rewards are a $1000 US Savings Bond Prize, discounts on Flowmaster(r) products, special Flowmaster apparel and trophies noting their efforts surrounding the racing season.

For more information about the Flowmaster High School Safe Streets Drag Racing Program, a listing of participating tracks and a look at the impressive prize package, do online to www.flowmatermufflers.com or cal1 (800) 544-4761.

Photo Gallery: Flowmaster Launches 2008 High School Safe Streets Drag Racing Program - GM High Tech Performance Magazine

The project, which was created to financially assist families of fallen or disabled Veterans through the Armed Forces Foundation, will be featured at one of Washington,'s most widely attended and prestigious galas ,- the 2008 Armed Forces Foundation Congressional Gala. Hundreds of guests including Congressmen, Senators, members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and injured Service Members from Walter Reed Army Hospital and the National Naval Medical Center will get the chance to view it for the last time before it lands at its final destination, the 6th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car auction in Palm Beach, Florida March 27-30, 2008. The car will then be sold to the highest bidder with all proceeds going to the Armed Forces Foundation. Watch the auction live on the Speed Channel from 12:00 ,- 3:00 pm EST Friday, March 28.

,"This is truly a magnificent piece of work where supporters of our military community came together for a good cause,," said Armed Forces Foundation President, Patricia Driscoll. ,"The money raised will be used to assist families of the wounded with bills, travel, funeral expenses (if necessary) and any other hardships they are facing during these stressful times.,"

Project American Heroes began last summer when CARS Inc. of Rochester Hills, MI and the Roadster Shop of Elgin, IL, united with the editors of Super Chevy to recreate a classic 1957 Chevrolet convertible. Armed Forces personnel were then invited to select the ultimate design for this dream vehicle including the color scheme, interior design and exterior trim via the Project American Heroes Web site (www.projectamericanheroes.net). Super Chevy covered every step of the project, following the complete build-up across multiple issues of the magazine, culminating with a special 100-page commemorative Super Chevy issue, ,"Building the Ultimate ,'57.,"

,"We are thrilled with the participation and enthusiasm over Project American Heroes,," said Super Chevy magazine publisher, Ed Zinke. ,"We would like to offer a special thank you to our readers for their interest, our partners who contributed their time, skill and materials, and the military personnel who helped determine the final design. Everyone,'s contributions made this project a huge success.," Super Chevy is published by Source Interlink Media, a division of Source Interlink Companies, Inc.

The AFF was established in 2001 as a 501 (c) 3 and is a part of the U.S. Department of Defenses,' America Supports You program. "We are proud to honor auto enthusiasts for their passion of cars, and to celebrate the automotive lifestyle that Gran Turismo embodies."

If the Factory Five GTM is anything, it's passionate: under 2,500 pounds, GM LS power, 0-60 times in 3 seconds flat, and over 1g of grip! Add in that sweet paint, and it's no wonder Cheney's GTM caught Gran Turismo's attention. Though Marcel Horn and his '07 Audi TT got the Best In Show award (and his ride will be included in a future version of GT), Gary's GTM sang the GTM and LS engine's praise loud and clear.

The GMHTP staff was given VIP access to Tryst to sample an early version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, attend the GT Awards ceremony, and celebrate with the winners with a private concert by Audioslave/Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. Killer club, killer party, killer band, and killer game. 'Nuff said. Check out www.playstation.com for more info.

Department Of CorrectionsOn page 49 of our February 2008 issue, there are two cam specs for the Patriot Performance camshaft included in our "Budget Badass" LS1 tech story. The first one, 225/229, is correct, as we forgot to change the one below it. Sorry about that.

Also in February, in our Street Heat section on page 88 it was misstated that Gerald Antoine and his GN originally hail from Missouri, when in fact Mississippi is his home state. And don't sweat it Gerald: "Buford" is just another term for Buicks-see our Off The Wire column for clarification.

G8 GT Prototype Spied!GMHTP recently had the chance to take a seat in the hot new 2008 Pontiac G8 GT prototype at a recent GM event. At a base price of $29,995, the 364-cube V-8 model makes 361 SAE horsepower at 5700 rpm- the kind of power that will blow away its domestic and foreign competition in the midsize sedan category. Initially the V-8 G8 GT will not be available with a manual transmission, however the 6L80 6-speed auto should withstand the supplied 391 lbft of torque. The 5L40 5-speed auto will be standard on the 261-horse V-6 model, with a manual transmission following perhaps in the next model year. A limited-slip differential, a substantial set of brakes under the standard 18-inch rims (or optional 19s on the GT), and a curb weight of under 4,000 pounds should make the 4-wheel independently suspended RWD sedan a fairly nimble creature. The 6.0L OHV V-8s will be built in Mexico, and the 3.6L DOHC V-6s will be built in the U.S.

Please send news and corrections to: rick.jensen@sourceinterlink.com, or mail to: GM High-Tech Performance, 365 West Passaic St., Rochelle Park, NJ 07662.

Photo Gallery: 2007 Gran Turismo Awards & Other News- GM High-Tech Performance Magazine

An incredibly flat torque curve will ensure a true seat-of-the-pants feel that Dragon claims will make more power under the curve than any competing blower or turbo system to date. The base 6-psi kit includes all the components necessary to take a bone stock LS2 up to 600 crank horsepower, and is available in black powdercoat for $7,195 or polished for $7,995. Upgrades are available for 8- and 10-rib drive systems, larger intakes, different powdercoatcolors, etc. Since the Whipple blower does not replace the intake,no aftermarket hood is required for clearance. JESEL quickly fixed that problem with its latest shaft-mount rocker system designed specifically to reduce valvetrain friction and deflection. A 1.400-inch pivot length reduces "scrub" between the rocker and valve tip, while the rockers ride on precision needle bearings with a .250-inch wide nose roller for smooth rocker action throughout the lift range. JESEL's proprietary 7000 series alloy and Mohawk shape provide the lightest and stiffest rocker possible. These CNC-machined pieces also have profiled tail sections for valve cover clearance, which are shot-peened to increase strength. Ratios from 1.65 to 1.90 are available as are optional ball adjusters, while tool steel pushrod cup adjusters are standard. Each stage is programmable for throttle position, RPM, vehicle speed, time delay and first gear lockout. With the NC-2 progressive controller, the flow can be modulated based on RPM or time. The flexible RPM input is compatible with all newer style ignition inputs from coil packs (coil on plug) or a distributor. A general-purpose input/ output is programmable for use as a shift light output, additional stage enable input, or control output for ignition retard. There is even a USB interface to laptop PC, which enables the data-logging feature (via the provided software and cable) for throttle position, RPM, vehicle speed, and status of all inputs and outputs, including two 0-5 volt analog inputs.

Cometic Gasket
Dept. VP says the oxygenation requires a 6% increase in fuel flow, which will make 3-5% more power in addition to providing better protection from detonation.

VP Racing Fuels
Dept. GMHTP
P.O. The reincarnation of the 1980s cartoon TV series and Marvel comic features the Camaro as one of the central characters, Bumblebee. As anyone familiar with either the comic or show can guess, the Camaro is actually an alien robot in disguise that crash-landed on Earth after its planet was destroyed. The plot follows Bumblebee, as well as Autobot Jazz (Pontiac Solstice), Autobot Ratchet (Hummer H2), and Ironhide (GMC pickup), as the classic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons rages on into 2007. The positive feedback regarding the new Camaro has been overwhelming so far; time will tell if GM will be able to ride this wave until the Camaro coupe becomes available in late 2008/early 2009.

Please send all news and corrections to: rick.jensen@primedia.com, or mail to: GM High-Tech Performance, 365 West Passaic St., Rochelle Park, NJ 07662.

Photo Gallery: Chevy Camaro Concept To Be Featured In The Transformers Movie & Other News- The Buzz

Category awards will be presented to the closest averages to (but not quicker than) 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, 13.0, 14.0 and 15.0 seconds. As his six-speed T/A still retains the stock rearend setup, Werner has yet to leave hard or powershift his ride. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent at Oshawa to prepare it for Camaro production. To all of you Camaro fans out there--sorry for the curveball.

Southern Cali To Open First Pro Track In Over 40 YearsIn the golden era of hot rodding--long before smog, catalytic converters, unleaded gasoline, and noise regulations--Southern California tracks such as Orange County International Raceway were a place not only where the common man could take his street-going prized possession, but also a venue where drag racing fans could connect to their heroes. Those days are long gone, as land-value pressures have caused the demise of several tracks from OCIR to Irwindale Raceway and Lions Dragstrip in Long Beach. However, Drag City seeks to pick up where these tracks left off when it opens its gates in spring 2007. The 60-acre, $10 million facility is the brainchild of Andy Marocco, president of All-American Racing, and his father Ron. Located near the municipal airport in Banning, the facilities will be open for public racing on the weekends. According to Marocco, it will provide the appr-oximately 95 percent street cars a place to race safely--providing a safe haven for those otherwise partial to illegal street racing.

Please send all news and corrections to: rick.jensen@primedia.com, or mail to: GM High-Tech Performance, 365 West Passaic St., Rochelle Park, NJ 07662

Photo Gallery: New Chevy Camaro Produced In Canada & Other News - GM High-Tech Performance Magazine

Chairman Rick Wagoner broke the news at a conference at Traverse City, Mich., stating that early production versions will be built in late 2008, to go on sale in the first quarter of 2009. The internal GM documents we spied called for a 2010 model with early 2009 production--time will tell which timeframe will be used. This front-engine, RWD, IRS Camaro will offer a choice of manual and automatic transmissions and V-6 and V-8 engines. And perhaps most intriguing: GM is stating that the production version will be "almost identical to the concept, a thoroughly modern interpretation of the 1969 model!"

Big Surprises from GMPPGM Performance Parts has announced the upcoming release of an LSX block of its own, no doubt raising eyebrows around the aftermarket. This block (PN 19166454) is the next evolution in Gen III and IV technology still boasting six-bolt mains and wet sump lubrication. However, it is constructed of iron and will withstand 2,500 hp! The deck height and cylinder bores will support up to 480 ci. Best of all, projected price is under $2,000. GMPP assures us that LSX heads, intake manifold, and crate engines will follow. Plans are to use this block in Reggie Jackson's '69 Camaro to be displayed at the SEMA convention this fall.

Another addition for high-horsepower applications is a line of aluminum carb intakes, which come with bosses for fuel injectors. The LS2 version (PN 88958675) has been available for quite some time, however, the LS7 (PN 25524401) and L92 (PN 25534401) versions will also be on the market by the time you read this. This intake is designed specifically for the bolt pattern and tall cathedral ports of Gen III/IVs. Just like some of the top builders in the country, add your choice of upper plenum, elbow or throttle body and you can have more even distribution of air to the cylinders and a more suitable runner length for high-horsepower applications.

For all you front wheel-drivers out there, GMPP is happy to report record sales on its Stage 1 and 2 Performance Upgrade Kit for Supercharged Cobalt SS and ION Redlines. The Stage 1 kit (PN 17801947) takes the blown 2.0L Ecotec from 205 hp to 230 with larger injectors and a recalibrated computer. The Stage 2 kit (PN 17803229) goes all the way up to 245 hp with the additional help of a smaller blower pulley, belt and a new tune. A Stage 1 to Stage 2 Upgrade Kit (PN 17803230) is also for purchase enabling you to take things one step at a time. Those looking to take things to the extreme can choose between a whole list of Ecotec engine parts including forged cranks, billet rods, pistons, fabricated aluminum intakes, cams, head gaskets/O-rings, CNC-ported heads, and even a racing block.

Please send all news and corrections to: rick.jensen@primedia.com, or mail to: GM High-Tech Performance, 365 West Passaic St., Rochelle Park, NJ 07662

Photo Gallery: New Chevy Camaro Official Release & Other News - GM High-Tech Performance Magazine

Competitors only need to sign up, show up, listen up to professional racers, and polish up skills in practice laps driving Chevy vehicles before striding up to the RIU Competition Course for a shot at the National Championship and a brand new Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe.

Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper said, "Chevrolet's line of products make high-performance cars accessible to everyone and Rev It Up gets race fans off the couch and onto the race course. It's a perfect fit. From the Cobalt SS to Corvette, participants will find out why Chevrolet is America's best selling brand."

After receiving training from professional racers, participants will experience firsthand Chevrolet performance vehicles such as the 400hp Corvette, 171hp Cobalt SS, 205hp Cobalt SS Supercharged and 303hp Impala SS.

The six stops currently scheduled on the 2006 tour are:
- Southern California: July 22-23 - El Toro Marine Base
- Dallas: July 29-30 - Lone Star Park
- Miami: August 5-6 - Hialeah Park Racetrack
- Chicago: August 12-13 - Balmoral Park Racetrack
- New York: August 19-20 - Belmont Park Racetrack
- Washington, DC: August 26-27 - FedEx Field

There are a limited number of competition slots available during each RIU weekend, so pre-registration is very highly suggested. The cost is $50.00, or $45.00 if you sign up online at least two weeks in advance at www.RevItUpRacing.com. The first 100 people that register online for each event will be able to enroll for only $40.00, so act fast. Competitors must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. The event moves forward rain or shine. General admission is free (and open to all ages) for those who just want to check out the action, root on friends and family, or test drive the line of Chevrolet SS cars on site.

The most exhilarating aspect of RIU is the competition where drivers show their stuff in a Cobalt SS for two separate laps on the RIU Competition Course. Upon registration, drivers fill out a questionnaire regarding their previous driving experience. Their answers dictate which of four competition divisions they are assigned, and a fifth group is set up just for female competitors. When racers hit the track, their lap times are indexed to a benchmark "best", laid down by a RIU pro driver. The competitor's time is then converted to a score. At each of the 2006 RIU stops, racers with the best score in each of the five groups will receive a new pair of Piloti driving shoes. The person with the highest score will be named City Champion and receive a reward (TBA).

Competitors will be able to check back at www.RevItUpRacing.com to see how their score matches up with others throughout the United States. When the tour ends in August, the driver with the highest score overall with be crowned RIU National Champion and walk away with a new Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe -- a car that, in a slightly modified form, has been whipping all others in the Grand-Am Cup's Street Tuner division.

A RIU visit begins with a brief overview of rules and regulations. Drivers then have five Skills Clinics which they can attend to learn more about performance driving. Two of the Skills Clinics are classroom sessions taught by professionals who have worked at some of the most prestigious racing schools in the world. Students learn about car control, tire dynamics, braking techniques and racing line analysis -- talents that will make them better drivers on either the track or daily commute.

RIU attendees also practice performance driving techniques on three twisty Skills Clinic Courses outlined with orange cones. Pro instructors are on hand at all tracks to provide feedback and tips, and laps are timed so participants can chart their progress or put pressure on compatriots. Each track is uniquely designed to emphasize specific driving techniques and utilizes a Corvette, Impala SS or Cobalt SS Supercharged. Students have up to seven laps they can run on the Skills Clinic Courses, but are allowed only one lap at the Racing Line/Practice Course Skills Clinic. However, additional laps for this specific track can be purchased on site.

RIU competition participants can partake of the Skills Clinics in any order they wish. They can also take advantage of the classroom sessions and track time before, between or after their two Competition Course laps.

A special addition this year to the RIU experience is the inclusion of white-knuckle Hot Laps. For a small additional fee, RIU competitors or general admission visitors can ride "shotgun" in a 505hp Corvette Z06 with a professional racer at the wheel. Passengers get to see and feel how a pro uses masterful car control, pinpoint braking, perfect apex analysis and maximum throttle to careen a lighting fast car around the track. Not only is this experience an adrenaline rush, but it is also a tremendous learning tool as it clearly demonstrates how to execute a fast, safe and accurate lap.

RIU has spiced up the competition even more this year with a Beat the Pro Challenge. Any driver who manages to beat the RIU pro's time on the Competition Course will be rewarded with a racing helmet signed by several of Chevy's professional racing drivers. Only one such prize is up for grabs in each city. However, be forewarned -- the RIU pros are very good and don't like to be beat -- but it has happened before.

For those not participating in the competition, there are plenty of other activities at RIU during a weekend. The very popular racing kart track will be back to provide wheel-to-wheel excitement for a minimal fee, and there is a special Chevy SS Drive Course where people can test drive the entire SS line for free without being hassled by salespeople. The event also includes food and merchandise vendors, as well as exhibits featuring GM Accessories, OnStar, XM Satellite Radio and Goodyear Tires.

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine listed RIU as one of the "20 Things That Rocked Our World in 2003." David Stokols, president of Automotive Marketing Consultants which operates the RIU program, believes that Chevrolet's backing of this unique motorsports event ensures that RIU will again "rock some worlds."

"Chevrolet's performance vehicles have had tremendous success in all aspects of automotive competition, and AMCI is very excited to have the automaker aboard for our Rev It Up program," Stokols said. "AMCI designed the RIU program with the intent of having everyone walk away from the experience with hearts racing, but more importantly, with improved driving skills to be applied daily. With the 2006 RIU program, I think we've fully accomplished that goal."

Photo Gallery: Performance Driving School features GM Performance Cars - GM High Tech Performance

Once its futuristic-meets-first-gen sheetmetal took the stage, it became clear that GM--and its much-insulted design team--took this vehicle very seriously.

Broken into sections, this concept has some excellent angles. One of the most powerful and passionate statements comes from a direct side view, which is RetroMod incarnate with its first-gen roofline and haunches.

There are also some weak points: the rear end seems a bit bulky, and the nose is smashed in. But when taken in as a complete vehicle the strong sections easily overpower the weaker ones, and the end result is a fascinating mix of old and new--not a complete knockout, but very, very close.

Rolling stock consists of massive, 21-inch front/22-inch rear rims of a classic 5-spoke design, with equally impressive 14-inch brakes. The drivetrain would no doubt challenge those big binders, as a 400-horse LS2 V-8 puts the power down through a 6-speed manual gearbox. An interesting addition to that LS2 is the use of Active Fuel Management, which is said to be able to shut down four cylinders under light load conditions.

One concerning aspect of this concept is the use of an independent rear suspension. When you combine GM's IRS problems in the past few years with future Camaro owners hoping for a mid-$20,000 base price, we'd be very curious to see how a production version of this concept could be kept, in Bob Lutz's words, "highly affordable" and an "astonishing value", especially since this show car was "designed with that goal in mind".

That being said, this concept is as bold and innovative as the GM brass wanted it to be, and is "this close" styling-wise to start a revolution. With Lutz hinting at a spring '06 decision regarding a production version, a bright future for GM performance may only be a couple of years away!

Concept Camaro Stats

Wheelbase (in / mm):

|110.5 / 2806

Length (in / mm):

186.2 / 4730

Width (in / mm):

79.6 / 2022

Height (in / mm):

53 / 1344

Track (in / mm):

63.8 / 1620 front; 63.3 / 1607 rear

Engine:

6.0-L V-8 LS-2, 400 hp / 298 kw, with Active Fuel Management(TM)

Transmission:

six-speed manual T56

Suspension:

four-wheel independent: MacPherson strut front multilink rear, progressive rate coil springs gas-pressurized dampers

Brakes:

four-wheel disc, 14" rotors with four-piston calipers

Wheels:

cast aluminum, 21" front, 22" rear

Tires:

275/30R21 front, 305/30R22 rear

Photo Gallery: Chevy Camaro Concept

Never before in our country's history has such an enormous number of Americans suffered so greatly from a single-or even series of-natural disasters. There's nothing we can say about the devastation and tragedy that hasn't been said a million times already. To help the victims as best we can, Year One has started the Hot Rodders' Relief Fund to collect donations for the Red Cross relief efforts. Every penny collected will go to the Red Cross.

Year One is in a unique position to quickly and effectively act as a collection center for donations. We have the business mechanisms in place to accept funds from customers via credit card, check, cash and electronically through our phone operators and our website. We have generated a specific part number in our system to track and account for every penny donated to the relief effort, and our system generates and mails a receipt to you for your donation.

All funds collected by Year One and our partners will be given to the Red Cross-there will be nothing "held back" for any sort of administration fees or anything else. Everything collected for the Red Cross will go to the Red Cross, to be used as they see fit. If you would like to help us in our effort, please visit <A HREF="http://www.yearone.com"TARGET="_new">www.yearone.com and click the Hot Rodders Hurrican Relief Fund logo or contact Marci Stevens at (706) 658-2140, Ext. 112, and we can determine the steps required to work with your organization.

Photo Gallery: Year One Hot Rodders Hurricane Relief Fund

Specifically designed for Edelbrock parts (as well as others), they are matched to Edelbrock cylinder heads and manifolds for optimum flow and performance, and most importantly, sealing.

"Now choosing the right gaskets is simple with Edelbrock-matched gaskets," said Steve Whipple, Edelbrock vice president of sales. "Don't just ask for any gasket, get the right gasket!"

Initial applications include small- and big-block Chevys, small- and big-block Fords, big-block Chryslers and Pontiacs. Edelbrock gasket kits include:

Edelbrock Intake Gaskets: featuring Micropore(R) MP-2N ultra-modern environmentally safe gasket material, they provide excellent sealing on rough, irregular flange surfaces and are impervious to most chemicals, including gasoline, alcohol, coolant and oils. The gaskets provide optimum sealing in intermittent operating temperatures up to 400*F. "The synthetic fiber blend is light years above existing materials currently on the market by providing a minimum of 30 percent recovery under a load," Whipple said. "This means that the gaskets, when compressed, have a memory that allows it to expand, filling in any imperfections on a sealing surface."

Edelbrock Exhaust Manifold/Header Gaskets: are constructed of HTX-900, a high-density non-asbestos fiber/metal core composite material consisting of two graphite-coated, heat-resistant fiber-blended sheets that are chemically fused to an expanded steel core. The finished product provides high heat resistance, excellent load retention and unmatched sealing performance on exhaust manifold and header applications. A 50-percent recovery rate allows for gasket expansion in the event the header loses the proper header bolt torque. "Edelbrock strongly recommends re-torquing header and manifold bolts after running the vehicle at operating temperature," Whipple said.

Edelbrock CRC Valve Cover Gaskets: "are unlike any valve cover gasket on the market today," said Whipple. The unique construction consists of two high rubber content fiber layers that sandwich a high- strength composite core. The core provides structural support, while the outer layers provide expandable sealing properties to greatly improve sealing over typical cork or straight rubber gaskets currently on the market. The CRC material greatly improves sealing on low flange pressures between long bolt spans on stamped steel, billet and aluminum valve covers.

For more details on Edelbrock gaskets, check the Edelbrock 2005 performance catalog or call 800/FUN-TEAM.
