All '86 and newer small-blocks were made with a one-piece rear main seal, but Mitchell uses the older two-piece style. Why? Because two-piece rear main cranks are more plentiful and more reasonably priced. If you're putting one of Mitchell's 427s in your late-model car, all you have to do is order an early-style flywheel or flexplate (since the bolt patterns are different). View Related Article
