Rod prep for Buicks is pretty much the same as for other engines with one important difference: the rod caps from the factory will exhibit a peened edge at the top of the rod bolthole. This is because the factory does not chamfer the hole before assembly. This creates a burr around the hole for subsequent rebuilds. You can see how the chamfered cap on the left allows the ARP rod bolt to seat properly on the cap. The cap on the right has not been chamfered so the connecting rod bold cannot sit flat on the cap. View Related Article
