The NX nitrous pressure gauge (PN 15509) is made in conjunction with Auto Meter and is essential for maintaining optimal bottle pressure for safety and performance.
Do Purchase The Right Parts To Ensure Reliability
You don't want too much bottle pressure. With the heat of the summer, the bottle can roast sitting in the back of the car. If the pressure gets too high, the piston in the solenoid will hang open when the system activates, and this can be dangerous to the motor because it could potentially burn one of the pistons. A nitrous pressure gauge and purge kit could prevent this though, and help you maintain a safe 950 to 1,050 psi of bottle pressure. Excess pressure can be bled off with the purge kit, along with any air in the line, which also allows for a better hit. A bottle heater will also help maintain optimum bottle pressure, except it is designed not to decrease pressure, but to increase it. The colder months can cause your system to go rich, costing horsepower and causing the motor to bog.

Do Not Go To The Track Without A Fuel Safety SWITCH AND A Window Switch
In the event where the fuel pressure drops, a fuel pressure safety switch will automatically cut the ground to the solenoid so the system doesn't fire. This will prevent the motor from going lean and potentially burning a hole through the pistons, and a window switch can prevent burning up the rest of the car. The most common nitrous mistakes at the track, and the resulting backfires, are the result of not using a window switch. If the nitrous is sprayed at too low an rpm when the motor lugs there is a nitrous backfire. This happens coming off the line or when short-shifting into Third or Fourth gear. Conversely, when you miss a shift or tag the rev limiter the fuel is cut, so again you can have a backfire. I saw a yellow Z06 that had bypassed the window switch for some reason and wound up lugging the motor. It backfired and burned to the ground. A lot of times this happens on the dyno, too. So, be safe and have fun!

The fuel safety switch (PN 15718) and window switch (P/N 18959) are crucial parts of keeping your pride and joy from turning into a flaming wreck. Dave also recommends the MSD Digital Window Switch as well as the BMN Controller with First gear lockout. A new line is also coming to market called Trick Performance.
