ERL LS2 Superdeck 2 Using ERL's patented Superdeck 2, you can bring up to 500 cubic inches of displacement to an LS2 block. The CNC-machined deck extension plate with integrated Darton sleeves allows for up to a 4.50-inch stroke with a custom billet crank and 4.205-inch bore Wiseco forged pistons. A Lunati forged custom crank is also available for up to a 4.25-inch stroke and bore can be downgraded as far as 4.155-inches. Carillo custom billet rods from 6.60 inches to 6.80 inches (depending on the application) are also part of the equation along with Total Seal rings, Clevite bearings, a Comp Cams custom grind cam, 1.7 ratio rockers, timing set, custom Cometic head gaskets, ARP head studs and main studs. Katech billet main caps and ERL lifter bushings are recommended but optional. ERL Performance, 2560 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN 47150; 812/948-8484; www.erlperformance.com | LT1 Replacement Stroker Crankshaft If your funds are tight, but you want to add some extra cubes to your LT1, try out Eagle's new cast steel stroker crank (PN 10352375057). Using a factory style neutral front and external rear makes the 3.75-inch stroke crank compatible with the stock balancer and flexplate. The stock weight crank is micropolished for long life and can push displacement to 383 cubic inches (with a .030 over bore). Retail price is only $333 and it should withstand up to 550 horsepower. Eagle Specialty Products, 8530 Aaron Lane, Southaven, MS 38671; 662/796-7373; www.eaglerod.com | ZEX Race EFI Nitrous System Add some serious ZEX appeal to any EFI ride with the new Race EFI Nitrous System (PN 82037), which is adjustable from 100-250 horsepower. Zex's patented nozzle uses Fuel Shear technology to promote better atomization by injecting the enrichment fuel directly into the nitrous plume, while Active Fuel Control adjusts the enrichment based on bottle pressure to keep the nitrous tune-up dead on and the pistons intact. ZEX's patented TPS switch is also included for operation at wide open throttle along with all of the necessary wiring, fuel lines, solenoids, and a 10-pound bottle with brackets. Total cost is around $700. ZEX, 3418 Democrat Road, Memphis, TN 38118; 888/817-1008; www.zex.com | Pro-Billet LT1 Distributor LT1 owners can breath a little easier with MSD's complete Optispark replacement distributor (PN 83811 for '94-96, PN 8381 for '92-94). Its CNC machined billet aluminum construction will not only offer exceptional reliability and durability compared to the notoriously irregular OEM replacement, but also vastly superior performance. An advanced trigger wheel and digital encoder were created to provide more reliable and accurate operation through high rpm. An improved housing design eliminates leaks while a vent provides fresh air; early model non-vented Optisparks come with air hoses. The rotor is bolted to an indexed drive assembly to prevent slippage, and a large ball bearing provides stability. Best of all, there is an adjustment screw, which allows up to +/-5 degrees of timing. The distributor is topped off by MSD's heavy duty LT1 Cap and rotor; MSRP is under $500. MSD Ignition, 1490 Henry Brennan, El Paso, TX 79936; 915/857-5200; www.msdignition.com | RHS GM Vortec Stock Replacement Want to talk cylinder head options for TPIs? Take a look at RHS' new ported Vortec iron heads (PN 2236494906HP), which are drilled to fit either the Vortec intake or the stock-style TPI intake. The Vortec heads feature specially designed 170cc intake runners and 64cc combustion chambers for increased fuel atomization and performance. Large 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valve sizes should significantly increase flow, and bronze valve guides are perfectly suited for higher lift cams. These heads are available as a fully machined bare casting for only $289 apiece. Another version is also available, which fits only the Vortec manifold (PN 2236494906) for only $244 each. However, this version has 1.94 intake and 1.50 exhaust valves, which should give enough clearance for the 305's small bore. COMP Performance Group, 3406 Democrat Road, Memphis, TN 38118; 877/776-4323; www.racingheadservice.com | NOS LS2 Nitrous Kit for C6/GTO What better way to add over 100 hp to your LS2 than with nitrous? The high factory compression ratio lends itself quite nicely to a healthy dose of juice, and using NOS' new kit you can add between 100 hp and 150 hp. Plus the new spray-bar-less plate system reduces air turbulence (associated with spray bars) and increases atomization. A 10-pound bottle, nitrous and fuel lines, a Corvette microswitch bracket, wiring, and solenoids that will support up to 250 hp are all included for about $785. Holley Performance Products, 1801 Russellville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101; 270/781-9741; www.nosnitrous.com |
