Edelbrock LS1 Heads And Exhaust System - Gen III Recipe

The intermediate pipe that leads from the MagnaFlow catback to the Edelbrock Y-pipe was too long...

...so it was cut with a circular saw in a jig.

Once the Y-pipe was connected to the headers, we chose a spot for the O2 bung. Alfred used a center punch to initiate his new bunghole...

...then drilled it out and cleaned it with a die grinder (yes, I said bunghole ... hehe ... hehe). A clean bunghole makes for a better weld.

Once the rest of The Chef's 2001 WS6 was back together and a fresh set of NGK TR55 spark plugs, Mobil 1, and coolant were added, it was back to the dyno. The stock tune maintained 19 degrees of total ignition timing in the LS1; however, with Ken's skillful hands this was pushed all the way up to 30 degrees by the fourth pull without a hint of knock. Fuel was added to the low rpm, and the IAC and VE table was adjusted for idling quality, all using LS1Edit. The end result was 426 hp and 403 lb-ft (SAE corrected).
