This month I'm taking a break from the in-depth tech buildup on my 1987 Turbo-T. Instead, I thought I'd write a quick recap of the major components that we've already covered, as well as give you a preview of some of the parts that I'd be installing in the next few issues. When street/strip Turbo Buicks are concerned, the right combination is everything. I'm shooting for a streetable, reliable, 10-second ride, and before I started this project, I did a ton of research and spoke to several Buick gurus about my goals. About 80 percent of the components used in the series were unanimous choices--the other 20 or so percent varied, and most of that involved turbo sizing, cam choice, and converter stall.
I believe the choices made concerning parts selection were good ones, but there are some compromises here--that's what happens when ultimate ET, streetability, and dollar signs come into play. The parts shown here make up this T's combo going forward. Did I choose wisely? We'll soon find out.
