With the bung welded in place, the metal is allowed to cool before screwing the sensor in. Here we're looking into the inlet of the cat, which on this vehicle bolts directly to the header collector. As you can see, the sensor is now optimally placed to read the exhaust gas mixture just before it flows through the ceramic interior of the catalytic converter.
