Here are the shifter forks with the shiny new bronze pads on. | This is the shift rail assembly, shown mounted on the main shaft with both shift forks installed. | The shift rail, main shaft assembly, and cluster shaft are all meshed together and placed back into the transmission base. |
Another shot of the meshed assembly from another angle. | When sliding on the tranny housing, be sure to install the shifter guide block onto the shift rail. If you forget this, you will have to take it back apart again later. | The main housing is installed; we can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. |
This little shaft is the Fifth gear countershaft. | Sixth gear has been pressed on, and the shift fork is installed. | This piece is the 5-6 gear assembly that rides on the main shaft, opposite of the Fifth gear countershaft. |
This image shows all of the Fifth and Sixth gear components pressed in place. The lonely gear at the top is our reverse gear. | Finally, reverse meets its match when the reverse slider (silver) and reverse gear are pressed onto the shaft. | The reverse idler gear rests in the tailshaft cover. These rarely need to be replaced. Nobody should be power-shifting reverse anyway! |
The tailshaft cover is finally installed. Once it is bolted down, our reassembly is complete. | The auxiliary shifter hole is covered with a plate, and the bolts are torqued down. This T56 has a new lease on life thanks to T56Rebuilds.com! | |
