The cover is placed, and its 10 bolts are screwed in-one longer bolt is supplied with a spacer, though it's not used with our application. They are tightened to 25 ft-lbs. |
The load bolts are tightened to 5 ft-lbs, and the jamb nuts are snugged. That's it! The 8.5-inch 10-bolt is now supported, and it'll take an engine much more powerful than this one to hurt it. |
Thanks to an excellent set of directions, the HRPartsNStuff bar is a snap to install once the old bar is off. Minor installation is required to piece together the rod ends and brackets, there is some measuring involved to center the bar, and the crossmember mounts will need to be drilled. Here,... |
...Brian has bolted the high-quality rod ends to the bar and installed the poly bushings and brackets. Holes were drilled for the crossmember mounts (inset photo) and bolted up, and Brian has attached the driver-side's rod end to it. |
The axle brackets are installed approximately 27 inches apart, equally spaced and centered. Note to avoid the brake line during installation. |
Rubber mallet adjustments are made to the lower axle tube brackets and the poly brackets to be equally spaced from the LCA brackets. After final adjustments, the four bolts are snugged to 20, 26, and finally, 32 ft-lbs. A couple of hex-link adjustments later, and we're done. |
Just for the hell of it, we threw on a 29.5x10.5x15W--and with minor clearancing of the chrome trim it would fit. As it is, I have a set of slightly smaller Mickey Thompson rims and tires just waiting to go on. Check out this build next time as I do some final prepping, bolt up the M/Ts, and hit Englishtown for a drag test. | |
