The fine scratches are what give a smoother appearance, the finer the scratches the greater the shine (after it is polished). Here is the painted headlight cover we acquired from Year One (p/n H72RH); though we could have salvaged the one off the used assembly it required a lot less work to use the new piece. And at $22.95, why not? We also picked up a new bezel (p/n H78RH) that runs only $14, more on that in another installment.
