C5 Corvette Front End Painted Red
C5s were generally screwed together nicely when new. Over time, some body gap issues have surfaced, mainly in the front of the vehicle where the use of fiberglass, plastic, and urethane all meet up. It is common to see some waviness in the front bumper cover and an uneven gap between the fender and the hood on hot days. It is one of the few quirks that make the C5 unique so don't discount a car that shows irregularities here as what you're seeing may not be body damage. The same goes for the paint, which out of the box is very good, but not great.

Ls6 Engine With Red Engine Covers
Once you get into the world of power adders, things change drastically. Supercharged, turbocharged, and nitroused cars see a lot more abuse from front to back, so make sure that all the supporting mods have been made or you may want to look at another car. If done properly, an LS1 or LS6 can make great power that lasts and lasts. You can make up to 450 rwhp, naturally aspirated at 5.7 liters and after that point the sky (and your bank account) is the limit. Count on major engine and driveline upgrades once cars see over 550 rwhp.

Head Up Display On A 2002 Corvette Z06
It wasn't the first year the Corvette had this cool feature, but Heads Up Display (HUD) was made standard on the 2002 Z06. It displayed real-time vehicle and engine speed and some other details by projecting it onto the windshield, allowing you to get pertinent data without looking down at your instrument panel.

Magnetic Ride Control Handling System
In 2003, a new option called Magnetic Ride Control came on board. From the cockpit, you had three choices for your handling and ride from soft to firm; Tour, Sport and Performance. By using fluid within each damper that could change its viscosity on the fly, damping rates could be changed instantaneously for a smooth supple ride or a super-firm setting for backroad blasting. It is a no compromises suspension but replacement costs can be high, so make note of it.

In 2002, the Corvette once again paced the Indy 500. The color combination was certainly more subdued over previous versions as performance took precedence.

C5 Corvette Interior View
The number one complaint of C5 owners is the interior. Although neatly designed and well thought-out, the use of cheap hard plastics and poor fit between the stark black panels can bother you on a long trip. The gauges are well laid out and the information center is chock full of data, but there is nothing much that can be done here as all C5s shared the same fate.
