The Ecotec engine is different... The Ecotec engine is different than what most V-8 enthusiasts are used to seeing and hearing under the hood. The "different" comment is not meant in a bad way. But we must caution you, when you pop the hood and the engine is running, there are clicking noises. Nothing is wrong, trust us, it is only the direct injection system. We freaked out the first time we heard it, too! | Hauffe worked over a variety... Hauffe worked over a variety of tables to increase the boost and the timing. The car's docile nature during part-throttle situations is unchanged, as is the impressive near-30 mpg highway fuel economy--just as it knocked down when bone-stock. | The final tally with more... The final tally with more boost and timing is an impressive 278 whp (5,600 rpm) and 300 wtq (3,000 rpm), far greater than our baseline of 248 whp and 251 wtq. That works out to a gain of 30 whp and 49 wtq. The peak gains are one thing, but also check out some areas under the curve, which are 50-60 whp better than stock. |
