Here's the stock mass air/bellows assembly. It's clear that the stock bellows is quite convoluted indeed, and it is the same way on its inside. This is particularly harmful in this instance since the air actually traverses a slight bend in the intake tract here, with the momentum of the air forcing it to the poorly shaped wall of the bellows and causing even more intake turbulence than would be incurred otherwise.
