Another important procedure that each block undergoes before and after the new sleeves are installed is stress relieving on a shake table. The process involves vibrating the block on the table shown (yes, we know that's not an LS block, but that was the only one in line for the job during our visit), which "settles" the block, much like the sonic equivalent of shot peening.
