An improperly adjusted drum band can lead to premature failure, so Century performs a thorough adjustment procedure. First the adjustment jamb nuts are loosened, and the center screw is then tightened all the way to 72 in-lbs. Next the screw is backed out 3.5 turns and locked in place with the jamb nut. Century recommends checking band adjustment after the first three passes, then readjusting it every 10-12 passes in high hp applications.
